چکیده
This paper approaches the issues concerning the coexistence of the IEEE 802.11g wireless networks and the ad-hoc Bluetooth networks that operate within the same 2.4 GHz band. The performance of 802.11g is evaluated by simulating the PER (Packet Error Rate) parameter and coverage area. The simulation experiments are based on the worst case scenario presumption, which entails the transmission of HV1 packet which HV1 link requires transmission on 100% of the Bluetooth (BT) time slots using the maximum hop rate of 1600 hops/s. The paper suggests a practical approach to mitigate the interference using symbol erasures technique through the assessment of the PER parameter at various E b /N o values. The results show that the symbol erasures can effectively mitigate the interference and enhance the performance of the 802.11g.

On the benefits of diversity schemes for Bluetooth coverage extension in the presence of IEEE802.11g interference
This paper investigates the impact of diversity reception on the performance of Bluetooth (BT) packet transmission in wireless channels with fast fading and shadowing and in the presence of IEEE802.11g interference. In particular, selection diversity (SD) technique is considered and the adoption of this technique results in a coverage extension evaluated in the paper. We first derive a tight pa...

With the new mobile lifestyle based on battery powered devices, Bluetooth came short in satisfying the needs of the high-rate applications due to its’ limited data rate. Introduc...
متن کاملBluetooth Broadcasting Performance: Reliability and Throughput
This paper studies the performance of Bluetooth broadcasting scheme. The transmission of a Bluetooth broadcast packet is repeated several times to increase the reliability of broadcast. We have analyzed the effects of baseband ACL packet types, each of which has a different size and error protection scheme, on the broadcast performance in terms of reliability and effective throughput that can b...
متن کاملBluetooth Channel Quality Estimation and Adaptive Packet Selection Strategy
The transmission performances of Bluetooth 2.0+EDR specification are analyzed, including average maximum throughput under different channel quality. A new adaptive select strategy based on the history of the packets errors is suggested. The channel quality is estimated by the packet error statistics of recent transmission packets. The type of next packet need to send is judged and can be adjust...
متن کاملAn adaptive segmentation scheme for the Bluetooth-based wireless channel
Bluetooth has been regarded as a promising solution for wireless connection between hand-held devices. In Bluetooth, a message is segmented into short packets to be transmitted over different frequency bands to randomize error occurrences. There are various kinds of packets with different sizes and error-handling schemes. Since each packet type has its own performance characteristics, care must...
